| 内容記述 | 日本語には、受身文の形式をとっていても、「仕事に追われる」のように統語的に対応する能動文が意味をなさない、あるいは不自然になるものが存在する。本稿では「非対立受身文」と呼ぶこれらについて、先行研究では受身文として認める立場とそうでない立場が存在する。動作主が示されない受身文の中にも「（状況に）置かれる」のように非対立受身文とみなせる例が存在するが、非対立受身文は何らかの外的な原因により主語の指示対象に状態変化が生じるという、受身文全体と共通する重要な意味特徴を持つことから、受身文と捉えるべきである。また、非対立受身文は、受身文体系においては直接受身文と間接受身文の中間に位置するものである。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | Japanese has passive-like sentences (e.g. shigoto ni owareru) (called “non-oppositional passives” in this paper) that do not have readily acceptable active counterparts. While some previous studies have regarded these as passives, others have objected to that classification. This paper argues that, while some of these sentences (e.g. jōkyō ni okareru) cannot be accompanied by phrases specifying agents, they can and should be regarded as passives, on the grounds that they have the following key semantic feature in common with bona fide passives: the referent of the subject undergoes a change of state caused by something external to it. It is further suggested that non-oppositional passives can be considered to lie in between direct passives and indirect passives in the whole system of passive constructions in Japanese. | |||||||||
