内容記述 | Since the 1990s, arts and cultural activities performed by people with disabilities have been socially recognized in Japan. In the 2000s, the Japanese government started to invest in such activities and this tendency continues today. Words such as “SHOUGAISHA A-TO” (art by people with disabilities) have become prevalent. This paper studies how the connection of two concepts, “disability” and “art” is produced through people’s daily speeches. For example, there is no socially effective (“explainable”?) connection between two concepts such as “handkerchief” and “traffic lights”, while there seems to be some between “disability” and “art”. This paper’s focus is on the daily production of such a connection between these two concepts. The abundance of meanings produced in relation to disability and art is presented through 3 case studies. | |||||||||
