| 内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to analyze the financial aspect of Terakoya, a privately operated educational institution in Japan during Edo period. Its “admission fees” called Sokushu and its “tuition fees” called Shagi play a critical role in determining the characteristics of Terakoya. However, in the previous studies, Sokushu and Shagi were rarely brought to attention, leaving a veil on their actual state. Therefore, this paper analyzes them and finds out their transformation in relation to the changes in Terakoya’s attributes, with a focus on Shinano in the late Edo period. | |||||||||
