内容記述 | This paper reports the results of a series of surveys conducted in FY2020 and FY2021 and focuses on the leadership of directors and the organizational resilience in Japanese early childhood education and care (ECEC) facilities. The results indicate the leadership of directors and the difficulties they face in responding to the crisis of COVID-19 pandemic. First, the directors made efforts to articulate their organizational vision and communicate effectively with staff and parents in response to the crisis. Second, the participation in professional development, which had become difficult in FY2020, had almost returned to pre-pandemic levels in FY2021, a result that may indicate the organizational resilience. Third, ECEC facilities were continuously considering and experimenting with new approaches. In addition, the philosophy and values of ECEC were reconstructed and innovations in practice were made. It is possible that leadership supporting organizational resilience and innovation existed behind these efforts. Fourth, fluctuations in the infection situation were related to the mental health of staff, parents, and the director. Leadership in the crisis of COVID-19 pandemic is considered to be an extremely difficult practice. These findings provide theoretical and practical implications for the leadership of directors of ECEC facilities in the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. | |||||||||||||||||
