| 内容記述 | This paper discusses a particular aspect of the reality of "local development" projects in a remote island society, focusing on the relationship between "outsiders (migrants)" and "communities (members)". Specifically, in Ama-town, Shimane Prefecture, West Japan, I will analyze the process of an Urban-Rural migrant taking root in the community as social entrepreneurs within the local kinship group in a remote island society. What is clearly illustrated by the narratives of the social entrepreneur himself is the construction of a relationship between the migrant and the local people that resembles gift-exchange; also evident in the narratives is the integration of the migrant himself into the socio-economic institutions unique to the island to which they have moved. Furthermore, it is important that the migrant himself undergo a process of self-transformation, large or small, through this process. This gift-exchange relationship led to social entrepreneurship and settlement for Mr. A, who had no intention of moving to the area at the beginning of the visit. | |||||||||
