| 内容記述 | テル・ガーネム・アル・アリ遺跡周辺では、広範囲に分布する大規模な墓地が発見されており、さらに踏査によって半径10 km に及ぶ範囲で石器散布地が記録されているなど前期青銅器時代の遊牧民の動態を明らかにする上で重要なデータが得られているが、統合的な空間分析がなされていない。本研究ではテル・ガーネム・アル・アリ遺跡周辺の調査で得られたデータをもとに地理情報システム（GIS）を用いて分析を行い、その結果を民族誌例等と比較検討することで、当時の遊牧集団の動態を復元することを試みた。 まず、墓地データから墓地ごとの可視領域を推定し、次に標高データを元に算出した移動コストと石器散布地の分布から放牧ルートを推定した。墓地群がこのルート上に立地することや、加えてワディや近傍のステップからの視認性が高いことから、墓がステップにおける集団のテリトリーを表す装置として機能したことが示唆された。また、隣接するテル・ハマディーン近傍墓地群との間は墓地の空白地帯となっており、双方の墓地群ともこの地帯からは視認できないことから、それぞれの墓地群を営んだ集団が、それぞれ近傍のステップを占有的に利用していたことが示された。 本研究を通して、テル・ガーネム・アル・アリ遺跡の調査で想定されていた、低地のテルとステップ上の墓地、牧草地という一まとまりの構造が、墓地の可視領域や移動コストの分析からも確認できた。また、集落と周辺の牧草地を中心として伸縮する季節的な集団の変化が推測されたが、墓地で出土した遠隔地の土器の存在も長距離移動の可能性を示唆した。墓地はそうした季節的に変化する集団の紐帯を保ち、牧草地の利用を円滑にする機能を持っていたかもしれない。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | Widespread extramural cemeteries and lithic scatters ware documented through the survey conducted within 10 km radius area around Tell Ghanem al-‘Ali, the Early Bronze Age settlement site in the middle Euphrates. Previous studies provided important dataset to reveal the dynamics of the mobile pastoralist in the third millennium B.C., however, lacks comprehensive spatial analysis. This study analyzes the data from the survey and the excavations nearby Tell Ghanem al-‘Ali by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Then the author attempts to reconstruct the dynamics of the mobile pastoralist in the Early Bronze Age by comparing the result here with ethnographic and historical records. Seasonal migration routes were estimated by combining viewshed analysis from the locational data of graves, travel cost analysis from elevation data and the distribution of lithic scatters. The cemeteries are built along these routes and are conspicuous from wādī or nearby steppe, which suggests the graves functioned as a sign of territory. The absence of graves in the area between the cemeteries nearby Tell Ghanem al-‘Ali and Tell Hamadin, and the invisibility of the cemeteries from both area, indicate that each group who built the cemeteries exploit their nearby steppes exclusively. The result of spatial analysis here supports the existence of the integrated land exploitation system extending from river valley to steppe, as assumed in previous studies. It suggests the seasonal fluctuations of the group size around the settlement and nearby pasturelands was suggested. In addition, the pottery from remote place indicates the possibility of the long-distance migration. Cemeteries may have functioned to maintain cohesion among groups that changed seasonally and facilitated their use of pasturelands. | |||||||||
