内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 This study focuses on the ripple effects of student-engaged faculty development (FD) activities. The case of a student-engaged FD organization at Okayama University is discussed to empirically clarify the following points: (1) The effects of student-engaged FD on organizations and individuals inside and outside the university. (2) How these effects have changed over the period of the organization’s activities. For (1), ripple effects of student-engaged FD activities were analyzed with respect to 1) organizations that promote FD at the university, 2) university departments and organizations, 3) students, faculty members, and staff members, and (4) people outside the university. The analysis revealed that the ripple effects were not limited to the organizations promoting FD within the university; student-engaged FD activities also affected various organizations and individuals both inside and outside the university. For (2), the process of change in the ripple effects throughout the organization’s roughly two decades of activities was clarified by analyzing the meeting documents obtained through a request for disclosure of internal institutional documents. The analysis revealed the following: (1) Despite the efforts of students, faculty members, and staff members involved in the student-engaged FD organization at Okayama University, the organization has consistently been little known since its foundation. (2) Therefore, it was essential for the FD organization to gain the support of organizations that promote FD, as well as the support of Departments and organizations within the university, and demonstrate the significance of its existence by proposing how to improve university operations. (3) There was a long period of time when students had not made new and unprecedented improvement proposals through official channels.
