| 内容記述 | The foundational scripture of the Mīmāṃsā school, the Jaiminisūtra, is composed of twelve books（adhyāyas）. Kumārila has written extensive sub-commentaries on this scripture, divided into three distinct works: the Ślokavārttika（ad 1.1.1‒32）, the Tantravārttika（ad 1.2.1‒3.8.33）, and the Ṭupṭīkā（4.1.1‒12.4.47）. This paper presents a critical re-edition of Tantravārttika ad Jaiminisūtra 3.1.1, commonly known as the Śeṣapratijñādhikaraṇa（the section on the declaration of subordinate elements）. Here, a detailed sub-commentary on the opening sūtra of the third book, Jaiminisūtra 3.1.1: athāto śeṣalakṣaṇam, is provided. Kumārila meticulously examines the three words that compose the sūtra（atha, ataḥ, śeṣalakṣaṇam）and closely analyzes Śabara’s commentary. For this critical edition, the interrelationships among four previous editions were investigated. These earlier editions are essentially based on the first published edition. Ignoring typographical errors, there is no significant variation in meaningful readings among these editions. In this paper, the Ānandāśrama edition’s first edition was used as a representative of prior editions. Additionally, the re-edition was based on the collation of ten manuscripts, including one in Malayāḷam script. The relationships among these manuscripts were elucidated as far as could be determined from the portions examined. In the apparatus at the bottom of the text, the variants found in the manuscripts are meticulously recorded. Additionally, related parallel passages and references have been thoroughly examined and noted. In clarifying the role and position of this sūtra, Kumārila explains it with the structure of all twelve books of the Jaiminisūtra in mind. Therefore, this section also serves as an excellent introduction to understanding Kumārila’s perspective on the overall structure of the Jaiminisūtra. | |||||||||
