内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to clarify challenges for promoting positive intergenerational interactions by examining present situations of IGSS (Intergenerational Shared Site) programs. IGSS programs, a rapidly growing trend in the U.S. since 1990s, were designed to meet diverse needs of people of different ages (mostly young people and older adults) by providing service programs. They are characterized by serving multiple generations concurrently at the same sites. Through the examination of IGSS programs, the following points have become clear. Firstly, the presence of staff person designated as intergenerational coordinators not only helps improve lower barriers in regard to coordination of intergenerational activities, but also reap advanced benefits from intergenerational interactions among program participants. Secondly, challenging matters such as staff training, developing demonstrative programs, and their evaluation are highly important to improve the quality of intergenerational interactions. Finally, I have pointed out the possibility that IGSS programs will ultimately lead to expand sources of public care-giving programs. | |||||
