内容記述 | In developed, democratic societies, education tends to be vulnerable to the dynamism of market place, rather than to the control of state. As a result, education there often fails to be education for democracy, in the sense that it is apt to function so that the existing social structure of inequality may be re-produced. Therefore, if education is to contribute to the build-up of a democratic society, where the dignity and the freedom of individuals ahould be esteemed, what is necessary is not mere democratic education, but liberational or emancipatory education. Freire, who denounces the neutrality of education as a falsehood and argues for the pedagogy of the oppressed, claims church to be prophetic. And Gutierrez, who is one of the major figures insisting the theology of liberation, sees much hope and possibilitiy in what Freire shows. The theology of liberation, as well as Freire's liberational pedagogy, was born and has developed in the context of the reppressed Latin American societies. And this the'ology contains reflections and criticisms on conservative Christianity, which has functioned repressively from time to time. That is, the theology of liberation can be regarded as an attempt of Christianity not only to take part in the struggle for social change, but also to critisize and transform itself toward the recovery of its original authenticity. Thus, there is much for those engaged in education to learn from this revolutionary movement of the theology of liberation. | |||||
