| 内容記述 | The target of analysis in this paper is a variety of repor ts which were produced and reported during the process of investigation on Korean customs as part of the survey project on regional customs which was carried out during the Japanese reign of Korean Peninsula. Although analysis of regional customs survey reports could be conducted from various points of view, this study aims to locate the owner of source material and then clarify its nature prior to the analysis of contents, as the locations of such material have not yet been identified. Korean Locked Press of Hamilton Library at the UH Manoa currently owns 429 sets of reports of the regional customs survey in Korean Peninsula carried out by the Government-General of Chusuin after the Japan–Korea Annexation. However, the only available information regarding this group of sources is the UH Manoa Librar y Catalog which contains general bibliographic information, and “The survey results on the notes from the Government-General of Chusuin owned by the UH Manoa” created in 2004. Both of them lack any explanation of its contents. This paper clarifies the purposes and contents of the survey, how it was carried out and by whom, which institution or organization the reports were produced, as well as the circumstances as to how they were added to the collection of this library. For this purpose, the basic information of source material which has been investigated and verified by the author will be introduced, and then examination will be carried out regarding the regional customs sur vey project in Korean Peninsula conducted by the Government-General of Chusuin. In this process, problems of the classification method within “The survey results on the notes from the Government-General of Chusuin owned by the UH Manoa” will be pointed out, and the source material will be re-classified from a legal history point of view. In addition, this paper is the final part of a trilogy that includes two papers published in the 166th (Dec. 2014) and 169th (Mar. 2016) issues, respectively, of the journal The Memoirs of the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia. The present paper is intended to separately provide “notes” on the second paper. With such a background, this paper also provides a table of contents for the whole trilogy in order to facilitate the reader’s understanding. | |||||
