| 内容記述 | ‘Alī ‘Abd al-Laṭīf (c. 1896～1948), an ex-officer, was a leader of the "1924 Revolution", which is generally regarded as the first "nationalist" movement (in the modern sense) against British imperialism in Sudan. He led a political organization called the "White Flag League", which played a central role in the course of the political development in 1924.// He belonged, at the same time, in terms of origin, to what the British colonial authorities described as the "negroid but de-tribalized" people, i. e. a people pf "ex-slave" origin from the South or the Nuba Mountains, living inside the Northern society.// Since a detailed account of the life of this person seems indispensable for the understanding of modern Sudanese history (both for the study of the nature of "Sudanese nationalism" he and his colleagues advocated, and for the study of the social realities which existed behind these political phenomena), this article tries to present, as far as possible, a comprehensive picture of the life of ‘Alī ‘Abd al-Laṭīf. It relies mainly on two sources, i. e. the official reports prepared by the British colonial authorities on the one hand, and the interviews with the relatives and acquaintances of ‘Alī ‘Abd al-Laṭīf, which were carried out by the writer of present article in Sudan during the years 1986～1995, on the other hand.// The present article, which constitutes the first part of the whole work, starts by examining the social background of his parents. Then it proceeds to examine the circumstances surrounding his early life, education, and marriage, covering the period until the end of the First World War, approximately. | |||||
