| 内容記述 | The Mūlasarvāstivāda-vinaya contains a huge number of quotations from sūtras in the Āgamas of the selfsame school. In not a few cases, passages are quoted from among sūtras now missing for some reason, and they can be ideal sources to restore the content of the missing sūtras. One of them is the passages quoted twice in different contexts in the Bhais4ajyavastu, which represent the Mahādevasūtra transmitted in the Mūlasarvāstivāda tradition. While the extant Sanskrit manuscripts and the Chinese translation quote the sūtra in a considerably abbreviated form, Tibetan translation provides the entire text in these two quotations, as is commonly found in the translation of the vinaya. I will present in this article these two Tibetan texts with annotated Japanese translation.Worthy of note is that the two quotations preserved in the Tibetan translation do not show complete agreement with each other, but provide difference that betrays the following two facts: the process of the compilation of the Mūlasarvāstivāda-vinaya, and the way of translation of the text into Tibetan language. Now that I have carefully discussed the former in another paper, I will examine the latter in this article in full detail. The distinguishing discrepancy in sentence structure and vocabulary shown by these two quotations alludes to the process of translation of this exceedingly large chapter: the translators of these two parts did not refer to each other. | |||||
