| 内容記述 | 本論は、It分裂文の特徴の一つと言われている「既成事実効果」と「個人的責任回避機能」― that節で述べられていることが他の人には既に知られた事実であり聞き手のみ知らなかったものとして情報が提示される効果と、そこから内容について話し手の個人的責任が回避される機能(Prince l978:898-900) ― について議論する。この効果と機能は、that節の内容またはIt分裂文全ての内容が聞き手にとり新情報である"Informative-presupposition It分裂文" (e.g. "It was just about 50 years ago that Henry Ford gave us the weekend.") に見られ、この効果と機能をIt分裂文にもたらす要因の分析はこの構文の研究テーマの一つである。本論では、この問題を認知文法の枠組み(Langacker 2011)に基づき、概念化者の立ち位置という観点から分析する。その結果、It分裂文のImpersonal itが指示的意味を持ち、そしてその指示領域に特定から不特定の幅があることが、概念化者の多様な姿の提示に関わっている可能性があることを示す。そして、It分裂文は対話者間領域における「特定の概念化者」から世間一般の人々の一人としての「一般的概念化者」までの多様な概念化者の姿を聞き手に示すことができる連続体を持つという試案を示す。この「一般的概念化者」としての話し手の姿の提示が「既成事実効果」及び「個入的責任回避機能」に寄与していると考えられることを述べる。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This paper analyzes "a known-fact effect" and "a responsibility-weakening function" in the informative-presupposition It-cleft constructions in the frame of Cognitive Grammar (Langacker 2011), which claims that It is meaningful and referential. As is proposed by Langacker (2011), impersonal It profiles the conceptualizer's field of view and his/her scope of awareness. I will show that the "delimitation" of the scope of impersonal It ranges from specific to vague as does It used as a pronoun and that the varied "delimitation" corresponds to various mental states within the conceptualizer, ranging from specific to generalized. Thus, I will propose that the It-cleft constructions show the continuum between a specific conceptualizer to a generalized conceptualizer and that it is the generalized conceptualizer that contributes to the known-fact effect and the responsibility-weakening function. | |||||
