| 内容記述 | External cause of death has become highlighted as an important health problem in Japan. Injury prevention is one of today's top health priorities not only in children but in the elderly. On my way to researching child injury prevention, I visited some institutes for injury prevention and control, and attended a seminar for safety promotion at Karolinska Institute, Sweden. Safety promotion is broader concept than injury prevention. To achieve the purpose of injury prevention, we need wider participation from various part of society including community. That means safety promotion should be ranked as a policy of each community. This concept was born in late 1980s apart from health promotion, though these two concepts resemble each other. The actual application of safety promotion to the community is called Safe Community. Safe Community movement expanded from Europe to all over the world in mid 1990s. To realize safe and secure community, Safe Community would be attractive methods for people living or working there. I mentioned some points to introduce Safe Community to Japan. | |||||
