| 内容記述 | The purpose of this article is to clarify the characteristics of the USAMGIK (United States Army Military Government in Korea) period (1945.9-1948.8) by examining the degree of American influence on the policies and administrative activities of Korean libraries during that period. Conclusion : Korean libraries were hardly affected by the US during this period, and continued to follow traditional policy until the end of USAMGIK. Grounds : (1) At first, America was going to implement to the "Program of Educational Aid from America" which would send American education specialists (including a library science specialist) to Korea. However, this program was postponed and eventually integrated with the Teacher Training Program. As a result, the program's initial objectives were modified. (2) Due to the high illiteracy rate of the Korean people, libraries were neglected and abandoned. (3) Americans who were sent to work for the Department of Education as library advisors were temporary and frequently changed. (4) American library consultants merely introduced the American library system to Korea rather than attempting to make major changes in the Korean library system. | |||||
