内容記述 | This paper examines the urban transport of three Chinese cities, Dalian, Tianjin and Shenzhen, through the use of activity-diary-survey data, and considers how the coming motorized society will affect human activities in urban China. The commute to work had the following general features as of 1995-97 when the survey was conducted. I) The main travel modes are bicycle and bus, though some differences are found among the surveyed cities. Dalian's citizens use the bus as well as the streetcar. In Tianjin, the overwhelming majority are bicycle users. In Shenzhen, automobile commuters are considerably more than the other two cities. Suburban railways are hardly used in all three cities. 2) The distant commuted is short and the commuting time does not exceed 60 minutes. 3) There is no apparent gender-difference in commuting time or distance. In China, there are few gender-differences in trips taken other than commuting. This paper analyzed the data of Shenzhen more in detail. Shenzen has the highest possession rate of cars per household among Chinese cities. The average number of the passenger cars per 100 families has increased from 4 in 1999 to 7 in 2000. According the survey data, private cars tend to be used by the husband. A big gender-difference in commuting style is not found in China at present. However, there is a possibility with different travel patterns between husbands with cars and wives without access to cars after the motorization of China. The distance husbands will be able to commute will expand compared to their wives. Thus, the Shenzhen survey data shows signs of the gendering of urban transport in China. | |||||
