内容記述 | Up until now the study of ancestor worship and shamanism in Korea has owed a great deal to the theory advocated by Takashi Akiba, which is called a "dual structure model". Paying attention to the fact that male-oriented confucian rites of ancestor worship coexisted with female shamanistic rites in Korea, he pointed out that this dual structure model laid the very foundations of the structure of Korean society. This paper continually succeeds to the methods of the previous works by critically re-examining his theoretical model. It should be noted that modes of ancestor worship and shamanism in Korea are now facing a dramatic transformation, from which one can envisage how such a structural transformation would bring about changes in women's social roles, kinship and the phase of communal structures in Korean society as a whole. In other words these structural changes shown above indicate that Akiba's theoretical model is no longer valid in the analysis of the very ethos of modern Korean society. This paper thus exemplifies and examines how and in what phase his model is losing its theoretical ground on the basis of several concrete case studies. As a result, the following conclusion is reached: The method of critically succeeding to the study of Akiba is to value the historical transition of the Korean view of death and life. Furthermore I'd like to show that a comparison with that of Japan is also effective in helping critically elucidate his theoretical model. | |||||
