内容記述 | In second language acquisition research, the possibility that second language learners are able to acquire grammatical features which do not exist in their first language has been a subject of controversy. It is crucial to investigate the acquisition of number features by Japanese learners of English because English has number features but Japanese does not. This article reviews the hypotheses on acquisition of features and the previous studies on the acquisition of number features, mainly on learners’ sensitivity to third person singular present –s. | |||||
