| 内容記述 | This paper reviews the current literature on the problems of Newcomer Youth’s career formation and their transition from school to school and school to work. Recent studies point out the problems on their career choices in Japan arising from migration across cultures at their school age. In particular, it has been found that Newcomer Youth’s future prospects are formed while being influenced by significant others and parents’ educational strategies. Furthermore, they realize career with educational and emotional support from not only formal education, but also out-of-school education and their personal/ethnic networks. In order to establish effective educational support for immigrants who are in social isolation, this paper proposed three approaches on Newcomer Youth study at the stage of settlement: (ⅰ) adopt a multifaceted research approach, (ⅱ) incorporate developmental perspectives into Newcomer Youth study, (ⅲ) conduct research to bridge school education and out-of-school education. | |||||
