内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to examine the trend of the practical studies on foreign language education in elementary schools and discuss its prospect. The articles reviewed by this paper were classified according to their focuses: (1) teachers, (2) children, (3) interaction between teachers and children, and (4) structure of class. Firstly, the studies on teachers provided practical knowledges about the expertise as a language teacher, the growth of a teacher, roles and characteristics of homeroom teachers, and the difficulty degree of English used by teachers. Secondly, studies on children suggested how children learn English and English communication through engaging with other children and teachers. Thirdly, studies on interaction between teachers and children showed a process about how a teacher forms relationship with children and gave suggestions about how a professional teacher supports children’s language learning. Fourthly, in studies on class structure, practices were considered from viewpoints of learning about English or English communication and learning as the all-round education. While these studies suggested variety of practical knowledges, further research seems necessary concerning more spontaneous participation in study of teachers, continuous participation in educational practices by the same researchers, participation in plural teachers or schools, and the unification of plural results of research. | |||||
