内容記述 | This paper aims to clarify the role of Kominkan as the place of learning local culture since the 1970s, focusing on Amami Oshima, Kagoshima prefecture, Japan and its local culture Shimauta (traditional folk song and dance). Chapter 1 examines the previous research and proposes a focus of this paper on Kominkan founded by local authorities since the 1970s. Chapter 2 describes the brief history of Kominkan in Japan and especially in Kagoshima Prefecture. Chapter 3 explores the beginning of Shimauta Class in Kominkan in Amami Oshima. Since the late 1960s, many Kominkans have been built by local authorities. And in the 1970s, both in school education and community education (a little earlier than school education), people began to be aware of the need for transmission of local cultures. Chapter 4 describes the details of Shimauta class in the 1970s. Together with the efforts of the staffs of Kominkan, the instructors and the residents who wanted to learn local cultures, Kominkan provided the unique opportunities for residents to learn and enjoy Shimauta. In conclusion, Kominkan played an important role for the transmission of local cultures in the 1970s and 1980s. |
