| 内容記述 | This article examines the fault line lying between the late medieval mysticism of Northern Europe, Rhineland and Flanders, and the early modern mysticism (la mystique) of France. Following the previous part that shed light on the ambivalent attitudes of the French spiritual leaders toward the northern mystical thought and its terminologies, we reconsider the perspectives of Louis Cognet and Mino Bergamo, who explained the transformation of spirituality in France from ontology to psychology. In addition to the decisive role François de Sales played in developing the psychological discourse about the soul, we discuss the process of melting the ‘‘ground of the soul,’’ as also found in the discussion of his disciple Jean-Pierre Camus. This process further progresses in the latter half of the century as the discourse is systematically classified and established as a concept. Finally, the idea comes to fruition in Fenelon’s psychological doctrine of ‘‘Pure love.’’ However, we may also address another way of explaining the ‘‘ground of the soul’’ in Jean-Joseph Surin. For him, it is no longer a transcendental place where God is present. It seems to dwell in the language of this ‘‘vagabond’’ who keeps on walking toward an absent God. | |||||
