内容記述 | This paper studies the theme of landscapes in Moscow Conceptualism, especially in the activity of the Collective Actions group. Attitudes towards nature have been a point of issue in Russian and Soviet art. For example, it was the most controversial part of Russian Avant-garde in the 1910s and in the 1920s. Artists like Malevich, Tatlin, and Stepanova envisioned art and life in their relationship to nature, in one form or another. Given the continuity between Russian Avant-garde and Socialist Realism, it might be said that Socialist Realism had remnants of this kind of dialogue with nature. If so, the relationship with nature in Moscow Conceptualism, which is sometimes called the second Russian Avant-garde and has gone through the world of Socialist Realism, would be worth considering. It is suggestive that the leader of the Collective Actions group, Andrei Monastyrski, criticizes the relationship with the nature of Socialist Realism. His subject of criticism was the Socialist Realistic landscape painting. This questioning attitude towards landscapes seems to have laid the groundwork for the further development of the Collective Actions group. Therefore, this paper attempts to find out their approach to nature that is different from that of Soviet landscape paintings, analyzing their performances called “action.” Doing so would reveal that their recent interest in electronic images is also not unrelated to the theme of landscapes. Thus, this demonstrates the continuity and change of their approach to nature. | |||||
