| 内容記述 | This paper examines the institutionalization of service-learning and community engagement in U.S. higher education; specifically the organizational formation process, organizational structure, and initiative development. A case analysis of Middlebury College illustrates two characteristics of the development of community engagement across campus: 1) close collaboration that draws on the strengths and assets of each department located within “academic affairs” makes diverse initiatives visible and intentionally positions them under the umbrella of community engagement, supporting their development across the institution. And 2) systematic implementation of curricular and co-curricular programs promotes academic service-learning through faculty support of new program initiatives as it facilitates student learning and campus-community partnership in co-curricular settings – resulting in meaningful and diverse educational opportunities. | |||||||||
