内容記述 | In this study, we analyzed discussions in childcare journals during the postwar period to see how the professionalism and treatment of childcare workers were discussed in relation to each other. As a result, it was confirmed that “liberal arts” were emphasized as a professionalityof childcare workers, and that private effort and rationalization of life were required for its acquisition. Even with the attention given to health issues such as fatigue and mental health of child care workers since the 1950s, the logic of emphasizing self-help for child care workers and positioning it as a precursor to working to improve their treatment and social status continued. We were able to confirm the logic that the first priorityfor childcare professionals is to acquire an education, after which it can be argued that the treatment of childcare professionals should be improved. We considered that the fact that professionalism was defined in terms of innate qualities such as the personalityof childcare workers and in relation to their personal life, such as leisure time and mental health, mayhave contributed to diluting the connection between the childcare worker’s qualities and their treatment as social issues. |
