| 内容記述 | 東京大学総合研究博物館に詳細不明の三角縁神獣鏡内区片が所蔵されているらしいということは、1989 年の三角縁神獣鏡目録での記載によって知られてはいたものの、内区片の所在と詳細は数十年にわたり不明なままであったが、筆者は2019 年に、この内区片「M32」を東京大学総合研究博物館で再発見したのである。 この内区片M32 は三角縁神獣鏡の134 鏡という鏡種であり、同じ鏡種である同笵鏡はこれまで７面が知られている。笵傷の発生や拡大、文様の改変などの視点で７面の同笵鏡とM32 を比較した結果、M32 は自身を含む８面の同笵鏡の中で６番目に製作された鏡であると考えられる。 M32 の再発見に至るまでの来歴については、東京大学総合研究博物館に残されたメモや資料カード、天理大学所蔵の後藤守一の拓本資料などを手掛かりに追跡した結果、M32 は1926 年以前から東京帝国大学人類学教室に所蔵されており、後藤により万年山古墳出土鏡として認められたが小鏡片故に公表されず、1950 年に「M32」として田辺義一の化学組成分析の対象となった後は田辺が保有し続け、1981 年に東京大学総合研究資料館（現総合研究博物館）に返却されたために1989 年の目録に内区片の存在のみ記載され、そのまま2019 年の再発見までの30 年間所在を忘れ去られていたと考えられる。 後藤の拓本資料に含まれるM32 以外の３鏡片も万年山古墳出土三角縁神獣鏡であると考えられ、その内の１つが既存の万年山古墳出土鈕片と同一個体であると推察されることから、最終的な万年山古墳出土鏡の面数は浮彫式獣帯鏡２面、三角縁神獣鏡９面、三角縁神獣鏡？外区片１面の計12 面となった。 |

| 内容記述 | It has been known through the collection catalogue in 1989 that an unspecified fragment of inner district part of a triangular-rimmed mirror displaying divinities and animal motifs (TRM-DA) is stored at the University Museum, University of Tokyo (UMUT). For several decades, however, its whereabouts and details remained unknown. I rediscovered the specimen, named as “M32”, in 2019. The M32 is a fragment of mirror classified as “the 134 type” of TRM-DA, and seven mirrors belonging to the same type have been known. By comparing the M32 mirror with the other 134 type mirrors in terms of the occurrence and expansion of the mold damages and alteration patterns, it seems that the M32 is the sixth mirror to be produced among the eight mirrors of same type. The history before the rediscovery of M32 can be traced by examining various recordings such as notes and data cards housed at UMUT and Goto Shuichi’s rubbing collection stored at Tenri University. M32 had been stored at the Department of Anthropology, the University of Tokyo since before 1926. Although Goto had recognized M32 as a fragment of mirror excavated from Mannen-Yama Kofun, it was not published due to its small fragment size. In 1950, the fragment was firstly termed “M32” and was subjected to chemical composition analysis by Tanabe Giichi, who continued to possess it after his analysis. M32 was returned to UMUT in 1981, then it was published in the catalogue of 1989 as an inner distinct fragment of mirror. After that, its whereabouts had been missing until its rediscovery in 2019. As other 3 mirror fragments in Goto’s rubbing collection are deemed as TRM-DM found in Mannen-Yama Kofun and it is speculated that one of those fragments belongs to the same individual of already-known mirror based on button fragment, the final count of mirrors from Mannen-Yama Kofun can be summarized as follows: 2 relief-carved beast belt mirrors, 9 TRM-DA, and 1 outer district fragment of TRM-DA (?), totaling 12 mirrors. | |||||||||
