By synthesizing research on faculty qualifications and accreditation, it traces the evolution from discussions on faculty qualifications to the emergence of preparing for future faculty. The study reveals that while formal initiatives like the Preparing Future Faculty program emerged in the 1990s, their conceptual roots extend to the 1920s. It highlights the roles of higher education associations and the federal government in shaping these discussions. This historical analysis identifies gaps in current understanding and proposes future research directions, including the examination of the interplay between faculty qualification standards, accreditation processes, and the development of preparing for future faculty | |||||||||
