The interaction techniques combine the touch-sensitive tangible and touches on the tabletop to assist 3D manipulation. The tangible is used as an avatar of the virtual objects. The user is supposed to interact with the tangible -- rotating and translating -- as if s/he was actually performing the action with the 3D model. The tracking system requires the attachment of an active marker to the tangible. The marker is tracked by employing the same camera utilized for touch tracking. The method combines computer vision algorithms to detect the infrared light-emitting diodes that form the tangible\u0027s active markers, and also does the multiplexing of the tabletop\u0027s infrared lighting and camera\u0027s signal using a time-division strategy, allowing both trackings to be performed simultaneously. The main contributions of this work are two. The rst one is the proposal of a touch-sensitive tangible and novel interaction techniques employing the tangible in combination with a tabletop interface for 3D manipulation.
