| 内容記述 | 「地図をたよりに、駅まで歩いた」のように、述語のない「X をY に」という形が従属節として主節を修飾し、付帯状況を表す構文がある。これを「地図をたよりに」構文と呼ぶ。この論文は「地図をたよりに」構文の精緻な記述を提示することを目的とする。 まず、従属節と主節の間の意味的関係のパターンとして、従属節が主節の表す事態の〈成立要因〉を表すもの（「〜を手がかりに」など）と〈タイミング〉を表すもの（「〜を契機に」など）の2 種類の意味関係のスキーマが存在することを示す。そして、この構文の事例に多数含まれる慣習的表現に着目し、それらの多くが上位のスキーマに動機付けられているということを主張する。「地図をたよりに」構文の全体像は、抽象的なパターンだけでなく具体的な表現を含んださまざまなレベルの言語知識が共存するネットワークとして捉えられる。 |

| 内容記述 | Among the constructional idioms in Japanese is what I refer to in this paper as the “chizu-o tayori-ni” construction, a sentence with a subordinate clause ‘X-o Y-ni’ that lacks a predicate verb. This paper provides a detailed description of this construction. It is shown that the construction has two major subschemas, each of which has a distinct semantic characteristic that pertains to the relationship between the main clause event and the subordinate clause event: the enabling sense and the timing sense. In addition, it is argued that there are many conventional expressions which instantiate “chizu-o tayori-ni”construction, and that higher-level constructional schemas, including the enabling schema and timing schema, provide motivation for these conventional expressions. The “chizu-o tayori-ni” construction can therefore be seen as a network that consists of constructions with various levels of abstraction and different degrees of productivity. |
